چکیده
In this study, the activity of methanol extract of Prosopis cineraria (MPC) was evaluated in N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN, 200mg/kg) induced experimental liver tumor in male Wistar rats. It was found that the administration of MPC (200 and 400mg/kg) effectively suppressed liver tumor induced by N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN) as revealed by decrease in N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN) induced elevated levels of alfa feto protein (AFP) and lipid peroxidation (LPO). The MPC extract also produced an increase in enzymatic antioxidants [superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx)] and non enzymatic antioxidants [Reduced Glutathione (GSH), Vitamin C and vitamin E] levels when compared to liver tumor bearing animals. Our data suggests that MPC may extend its chemopreventive effect by modulating the levels of alfa feto protein and lipid peroxidation and augmenting antioxidant defense system.

The present study determines the efficacy of N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) on marker enzymes, lipid peroxidation and antioxidants in carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) (3 mL/kg/week) administered subcutaneously to albino Wistar rats for a period of three months significantly increased the activities of marker enzymes in plasma such as aspartate transamina...

متن کاملS-allylcysteine inhibits circulatory lipid peroxidation and promotes antioxidants in N-nitrosodiethylamine-induced carcinogenesis.
Effects of S-allylcysteine (SAC), an organosulfur compound of garlic, on circulatory lipid peroxidation and antioxidant levels were evaluated in N-nitrosodiethylamine (NEDA)-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in Wistar rats. Significantly elevated thiobarbituric acid reactive substances in the circulation of rats bearing carcinoma indicated the higher levels of lipid peroxidation which was accompanie...

Objective: Aging is a multifactorial phenomenon, which attribute to different diseases and abnormalities in living systems. Oxidative stress, which is an important factor in aging, exacerbates this process via different mechanisms. Crocin (CR), one of the active components of saffron showed strong antioxidant effects. In the present study, anti-aging property of crocin was investigated in mice....
